Wix 301 redirect builder
Paste your old and new page addresses. Get a CSV file for Wix’s URL Redirect Manager, with chains, loops and duplicates caught before you import it.
Your addresses
One redirect per line: the old address, then the new one.
Separate the two with a comma, a tab or an arrow ->. Paths like /about and full addresses both work, and a heading row is skipped. Up to 20,000 lines.
Made-up example: Juniper & Oak Candle Co., moving from Shopify.
Paste your old addresses and your new Wix addresses. We pair them by name, and mark every pair that isn’t the same name.
One per line, from your old store’s sitemap or a crawl. A sitemap file’s text works too.
From your Wix site’s sitemap: yoursite.com/sitemap.xml lists the others, like store-products-sitemap.xml for product pages. Pages hidden from search engines may not appear in it.
Made-up example: Juniper & Oak Candle Co.’s old Shopify addresses and its new Wix site.
Paste your old addresses only. We swap the old platform’s folder for Wix’s and keep each name.
| Page | Old address | New on Wix |
|---|---|---|
| Products shown in a collection | /collections/ | /product-page/ |
| Products | /products/ | /product-page/ |
| Collections | /collections/ | /category/ |
| Pages | /pages/ | /name |
| Blog posts | /blogs/ | /post/ |
Shopify’s folders are fixed. A product shown in a collection has a second address, and both go to the one product page. Shopify Markets can add a language folder, like /en-ca/: remove it under “Change folder names”.
These are WooCommerce’s default folders, and stores can change them, so match them to your old addresses. Blog posts are only matched if their addresses end in the post’s name: tick that box under “Change folder names”. Plain addresses like /?p=123 can’t be matched.
In Squarespace 7.1, product addresses start with your store page’s name, then /p/. Blog posts start with your blog page’s name. Change them if yours aren’t “shop” and “blog”.
Changing a folder in Wix’s SEO Settings? Its “Automatically redirect all traffic” box, ticked by default, already makes these redirects. Use this only if it was off. Type your new folder names under “Change folder names”.
Change folder names
Like en-ca. The old address keeps it; the Wix address is built without it.
Like blog, if posts are at /blog/post-name/.
One per line, from your old store’s sitemap or a crawl. Each Wix address is a suggestion: open a few on your new site to make sure the pages exist.
Made-up example: Northfield Tea Supply, moving from Shopify with the same product names.
Full addresses on this site become paths like /about. Wix only needs the path of an old address.
Your redirect file

Next: flatten the chain, merge the duplicate and pick one new address for /products/gift-card. Then look over the row marked Check.
This is the made-up example. Paste your own list above to make your file.
Blocked: 1 old address with two new addresses
An old address can only go to one page. Keep one in the table. Until then, neither goes in the file.
Fix: 1 chain
These point at an address that redirects again. Wix’s developer docs say Wix then deletes the other redirect, and they don’t cover imports. Point each one straight at the final page.
Fix: 1 duplicate row
The same redirect is listed more than once. The file keeps one.
Check: 1 page sent to the home page
Google warns that sending many old pages to the home page can be treated as a soft 404. Pick the closest category or page. If nothing fits, leave the row out: “not found” is right for a page that’s gone.
- Skipped line 1, “Old URL, New URL”, as a heading.
Check each redirect
Tap an address to change it. Rows marked Blocked stay out of the file until you fix them.

Import it in Wix
8 redirects in the file. 2 rows stay out until you fix them. Repeated rows are written once. 1 redirect in the file still points at an address that redirects again: flatten it first.
The first row is a heading: Old URL, New URL. If Wix’s import says the format is wrong, download Wix’s template from the same screen and paste these rows under its header.
Before you import
- Save what’s there. In the URL Redirect Manager, More Actions › Export redirects saves your current redirects.
- Skip what Wix made. Wix adds a redirect itself when you change a page’s URL slug, or a URL structure with “Automatically redirect all traffic” ticked. Products get one if their redirect toggle is on. Blog posts get none, and Wix’s category help says to add your own when a category slug changes. Its own rows say AUTO REDIRECT.
- Moving from another platform? Wix’s order: build with “Let search engines index your site” off, add the redirects, publish, then turn it on. Redirects need a connected domain, so on the same domain they go in when the domain moves.
- When the domain moves, it “can take up to 48 hours”. If you connect it with Wix’s name servers, which Wix recommends, Wix holds all your DNS records. Wix copies your email (MX) records, but add other email and verification records again. Wix doesn’t support DNS proxies like Cloudflare’s. The move, step by step
Import steps
- In your Wix dashboard, go to SEO & GEO, scroll to Tools and settings and click URL Redirect Manager.
- Click More Actions, choose Import redirects, then Upload CSV File, and pick your file. The first time, try a file with one redirect.
- Choose what to import. New redirects are added. Existing ones, for an old address that already redirects, are only replaced if you switch that toggle on. It’s off by default.
- Click Import Redirects. Rows Wix can’t import are left out: download its CSV report to see why.
- More than one file? Import the next one the same way.
- Redirects only work once your site is upgraded and connected to a custom domain.
- You can only redirect to published pages.
- On a multilingual site, redirects stay within one language, and the new address can’t contain ?lang=.
After importing
Redirects take a few minutes to start. Then open 5 of your old addresses in a private window and check each one lands on the right page.
Free. No signup. Nothing you paste leaves this browser.
How redirects work on Wix ↓How redirects work on Wix
A redirect sends anyone who opens an old address, people and Google alike, to a new one. On Wix you add them in the URL Redirect Manager. Add them one at a time, a whole folder at once with a group redirect, or up to 500 from a CSV file. Each is a 301, a permanent redirect, which Google treats as a strong sign that the new address replaces the old one.
If a whole folder moved, start with a group redirect
Wix’s own example changes the path “products -> product-page” all at once. One group redirect can replace hundreds of rows when every page keeps its name. It covers every address in that folder, even ones you didn’t list. Use the CSV for the rest: up to 500 redirects per file and 5,000 per site.
Point each old address at its final page
If /a goes to /b and /b goes to /c, that’s a chain. Google advises redirecting “to the final destination directly”, and otherwise keeping chains short, “ideally no more than 3”. Wix’s developer docs say its redirects “do not chain, they replace”, and they don’t say what a CSV import does, so flatten chains first. Wix blocks loops, like /a to /b and back.
Send a page that’s gone somewhere close
Pick the closest category or a similar product. Google warns that sending many old addresses to one unrelated page, such as the home page, “might be treated as a soft 404 error”. If nothing is close, leave it out: Google says a 404 is right for a deleted page with no replacement. Wix’s help on its 404 page also mentions your home page, but for search, follow Google.
Keep them, and test them
Google says to keep redirects “for as long as possible, generally at least 1 year”. After importing, open a few old addresses in a private window. Moving platforms on the same domain? Google’s Change of Address tool isn’t for that: it’s for moving to a different domain.
Redirects don’t move your titles
Wix says SEO tags currently can’t be imported from a CSV file, so titles and descriptions need setting again after a move. Our SEO pattern preview shows how a title pattern reads across your product names.
What this tool doesn’t do
- It doesn’t open your pages. So it can’t tell whether a new address is a published page, or whether an old address is still a live page on Wix. If it is, delete or rename that page.
- It doesn’t see the redirects already on your site, including the ones Wix made itself.
- It doesn’t add anything to Wix. You import the file.
- It can’t tell how Wix treats capitals, the part after ? or a / at the end: Wix’s help pages don’t say. Test one of each after importing.

Wix redirect questions
Build my file ↑How many redirects can I import into Wix?
Up to 500 per CSV file: Wix doesn’t import rows past that. And 5,000 per site in all. This builder splits a longer list into files of 500, named so you can import them in order. Over 5,000? Use a group redirect where a whole folder moved, and keep redirects for the pages people still visit.
What is a redirect chain, and how do I fix one?
A chain is a redirect that lands on another redirect: /a goes to /b, which goes to /c. Google advises pointing each old address straight at its final page. The builder finds chains in your list and points each one straight at its last address in one tap. A loop, where /b goes back to /a, never reaches a page: Wix blocks loops, and so does the builder.
Should I redirect deleted products to my home page?
Usually not. Google warns that sending many old pages to the home page can be treated as a soft 404. Send each one to the closest category or a similar product. If there’s none, leave it out: a “not found” page is right for a product that’s gone for good.
Does this tool upload my list?
No. It runs in your browser, and your list and your file aren’t sent anywhere or saved. Close the page and they’re gone, so download your file first.
