Your markup

Ready to paste1,625 of 7,000 characters

Wix adds markup only under 7,000 characters. Counted as you’ll paste it, spaces and tags included. Wix doesn’t say whether it counts those, so this is the safe count.

Checks

  • Check

Google’s rules say markup must describe what people can see. Compare “What it tells Google” with your store’s pages.

  • Fine

    Under Wix’s limit: 1,625 of 7,000 characters

Wix also allows up to 5 markups and 8,000 characters in total on one page. Other markup on the page counts toward that. Wix doesn’t say whether its own preset blocks do.

  • Fine

    Has what Google requires

Return policy: applicableCountry, returnPolicyCategory and merchantReturnDays. Shipping policy: shippingConditions.

  • Note

Merchant Center and Search Console settings come first

Google uses return and shipping settings from Merchant Center or Search Console over this markup, and markup on a product page beats this store-wide block too. Google’s merchant listing page also puts Merchant Center product feeds first.

Before you paste: this markup has to say the same as the returns and shipping pages shoppers see on your site. Google decides whether to show it, and passing Google’s test doesn’t guarantee it will.

This is the made-up example store. Put in your own policy before you paste it into Wix.

Where to paste it in Wix

Add it to one page only. Google’s return and shipping guides suggest the page that shows those policies. Its Organization guide suggests your home page. You don’t need it on every page.

Which Wix editor do you use?
  1. In the Wix Editor, click Pages & Menu.
  2. Next to your home page (or the page that shows your policies), click the More Actions icon, then SEO basics.
  3. Open the Advanced SEO tab and click Structured Data Markup.
  4. Click + Add New Markup and give it a name, like “Return and shipping policy”.
  5. Paste the markup into the box that says Write your markup in JSON-LD format, then click Apply.
  6. Publish your site.
  1. In the Studio Editor, click Pages.

Harmony is Wix’s newest editor, released in January 2026.

  1. Wix says Harmony sites add markup in the dashboard, not in the editor.
  2. In your dashboard, go to SEO & GEO › Tools and settings › SEO Settings.
  3. Under Edit by page type, click Main Pages, then the Edit by Page tab.
  4. Click the page, then the Advanced tab, then Structured data markup.
  5. Click + Add New Markup, name it, paste the markup and click Apply. Then click Publish.

From the dashboard, with any editor: SEO & GEO › Tools and settings › SEO Settings › Main Pages › the Edit by Page tab › your page › the Advanced tab › Structured data markup › + Add New Markup. Paste the markup, click Apply, then Publish.

Wix may already add its own markup

Wix adds a Local Business block to your home page once your business name and location are set in Settings › Business info, plus sitelinks search box markup if you use Wix Site Search. Both are separate from this block, and this tool doesn’t change them. Wix allows up to 5 markups and 8,000 characters in total on one page.

Then test it

  • Rich Results Test: Google’s own test. It shows which Google rich results your markup can produce, and any errors or warnings. Paste the markup with its script tags. After you publish, test the live page’s address too.
  • Schema Markup Validator: checks the markup against schema.org itself, without Google’s extra rules.
  • In Wix, each markup’s More Actions icon also has a test option.
  • Search Console has no report for this block. Its Merchant listings report, under Shopping, covers your product pages.

Free. No signup. Nothing you type leaves this browser.

How policy markup works ↓

How return and shipping policy markup works

Markup, also called structured data or schema, is a block of code that states facts about your store in a format Google reads. Since June 2024, Google reads a store’s return policy from markup about the business as a whole. Since November 2025, it reads the shipping policy the same way. Google can show these details with your products and in knowledge panels.

Wix adds markup to your product pages by itself, but it leaves out returns and shipping. This tool writes the missing piece: one block for your whole store.

What Wix’s automatic markup includes
DetailsAdded by Wix?
Product name, description, images and SKUYesOn product pages
Price, currency, and in stock or out of stockYesOn product pages
Return policyNo
Shipping cost and delivery timeNo
Local Business: name, address, logoYesOn the home page, once you add a business name and location

From Wix’s list of the fields in its product and home page markup. Wix’s help pages on markup don’t mention an Organization or OnlineStore block.

Three places to tell Google your policies

This markup is one. The others are the return and shipping settings in Google Merchant Center, and the shipping and return settings in Search Console.

Google uses the Merchant Center and Search Console settings, and Merchant Center’s Content API, over markup. Markup on a product page also beats store-wide markup like this. Google’s merchant listing page also puts Merchant Center product feeds first. If you use more than one, keep them the same.

Merchant Center on Wix

Wix can set up Merchant Center for you. In your dashboard, the Google & YouTube section has Sign Up With Wix, which creates the account. Or Google Catalog gives you a product feed link to add in Merchant Center. Feeds update on a schedule, not instantly, and leave out digital and subscription products.

Keep it true

Google’s rules say markup must describe what readers of the page it’s on can see. If your returns page says 14 days and the markup says 30, change one so they match. When your policy changes, update both. Google decides whether to show any of it, and a passing test doesn’t guarantee it will.

What this tool doesn’t do

  • It doesn’t read your store. You type the policy, and the markup says only what you filled in.
  • It writes one policy for the whole store. Google has more properties for seasonal policies, restocking fees, and shipping prices that depend on an order’s value, weight or number of items. This tool leaves those out.
  • It doesn’t add the markup to Wix or see what your pages already have. To check a live page, run it through Google’s Rich Results Test.
  • It isn’t legal advice. It describes the policy you already have.

Policy markup questions

Build your markup ↑
Does Wix add return policy markup by itself?

No. Wix’s automatic product markup covers the name, description, images, price, currency and whether it’s in stock, but no return policy or shipping details. On the home page, Wix documents Local Business markup, plus sitelinks search box markup if you use Wix Site Search. Neither has return or shipping details.

Where in Wix does the markup go?

In one page’s SEO settings, under Advanced SEO › Structured Data Markup. Google’s return and shipping guides suggest the page that shows those policies. Its Organization guide suggests your home page. You don’t need it on every page.

Should I paste it with the script tags?

Start with them. Wix’s troubleshooting article says markup should begin with <script type="application/ld+json"> and end with </script>. Its main article on markup doesn’t mention them. Wix shows ‘Markup can only be in JSON-LD format’ for any code it can’t read. This code is valid, so if you see that message, untick “Include the script tags” and paste again.

Will Google show my return policy in search?

Maybe. Google decides what to show, and it doesn’t guarantee a rich result even when its test passes. The markup also has to match what your returns and shipping pages say. Any policy you set in Merchant Center or Search Console comes first.
